Trio graduate from Western Governors

The following local residents have received their degree from Western Governors University. The university held its 30th semi-annual commencement ceremony in Orlando on Feb. 6 and celebrated the graduation of more than 7,300 graduates.

n Jennifer Parsons of Athol has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

n Tracy Autler of Sandpoint has received her Master of Science in Nursing - Leadership and Management.

n Tyler Benner of Spirit Lake has received his MBA in Healthcare Management.

At its Feb. 6 commencement, the university awarded 4,557 undergraduate and 2,759 graduate degrees in business, information technology, K-12 teacher education, and healthcare professions, including nursing. Graduates reside in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, as well as Armed Forces personnel stationed overseas.

Morris receives dean’s list honors

Sydney Morris of Sandpoint is among the 667 students who were named to the dean’s list for the 2015 fall semester.

To be eligible for the academic honor, a student must earn a 3.5 grade-point average while taking at least 12 graded credit hours of classes at the undergraduate level or six graded credit hours at the graduate level.

NNU’s dean’s list includes students from 27 states and 10 foreign countries.

Northwest Nazarene University, a comprehensive Christian university, offers over 60 areas of study, 18 master’s degrees in seven different disciplines and two doctoral degrees. In addition to its 88-acre campus located in Nampa, the university also offers programs online as well as in Boise, Idaho Falls and in cooperation with programs in 35 countries. Founded in 1913, NNU serves over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students, more than 6,000 continuing education students, and 2,300 high school students through the concurrent credit program.

Deshon is named to NU dean’s list

Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. Sandpoint resident Kyle Deshon, a Northeastern University student majoring in civil engineering, was recently named to the university’s dean’s list for the fall semester, which ended in December 2015.

To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college.
