A recent Daily Bee article talked of injecting cold water into the river to sustain a massive trout supply, but there is a much bigger problem.

We airplane /fisherman people can look down on the river and what we see is a sterile smooth river bottom. Very limited cover for any kind of fish.

Ancient logging practices probably created what we have now. Easy to fix with huge loads of rocks in the right places. I have observed, in other states, rivers with rocks held together with wire lattice like we see for rock slides along our roads.

A few low rock dams will also maintain some deeper water for warmer times. Get working on fish cover the entire river length, then we have a fishery again.
