Davidson posts great time to win 400 for girls

SANDPOINT — Finan Lund-Andersen clocked a low early season time of 4:30 in the 1,600, finishing four seconds ahead of Jacob Graham, helping the Bulldog boys edge Post Falls by just three points to win the team title at the five-team Sandpoint Invitational on Tuesday at the SHS track.

The two were also second and third, respectively, in the 800 meters, as both look to improve speed for the distance events.

“Fin is so smooth,” said Bulldog head coach Matt Brass, noting Graham is right there pushing him. “They both have such smooth strides.”

Zack Alamillo threw a huge personal best in the discus, winning by more than three feet with a heave of 134-5. Mark Kennaly won the 400, and T.J. Davis won the 110 hurdles to post wins for the Bulldog boys, who had a lot of athletes score points.

Hannah Davidson ran a personal best 1:01 in her first foray into the 400 meters to lead the Bulldog girls to a second place finish, and could end up making that her primary event after posting a strong early season time.

“We knew she has good speed, but she’s never ran it before,” described Brass of his talented sophomore. “It was a great time. I’m never surprised by her anymore.”

Senior Claire Pierce posted a win in the 3,200 meters, the only other Bulldog girl to win an event, followed closely by teammate Sharon Rowe.

Other top finishers for the boys included Kyle Perry (3rd in 100), Davis (4th in long jump) and a pair of relays.

Other top finishers for the Bulldog girls included a second place throw in the discus from Taylor Ward, Kaetherine Kaul and Cori McClelland finishing second and third in the 1,600, respectively, a strong performance by Jessa Hutto (3rd in the 100 and long jump), Janice Aylaward (3rd in the shot), Claire Keener (3rd in the 200), Madi Schoening (4th in the 200) and Paige DuMars (5th in the 100).

A handful of Bulldogs who have hit qualifying times will compete in the Pasco Relays on Saturday, while the rest of the Bulldogs will be at the Cheney Invite.
