Janice Lutz, 77, of Sagle, Idaho, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family and loved ones. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Circle of Life in Kootenai Hospital.

Born April 13, 1939, in Los Angeles, Calif., she is preceded in death by her parents, James and Virginia Holm of Fullerton Calif.; and her daughter and grandson, Debra and Darren Brown, both of Payson, Ariz.

Janice graduated from Fullerton High School and obtained her Master of Arts in Psychology from California State University Long Beach, Calif., in 1987. Janice went on to earn her doctorate degree as a doctor of philosophy in clinical psychology, graduating from United States International University in 1992.

Janice opened her clinical practice in Fullerton, Calif., in 1992 helping abused children, until she retired in 2003 and moved to Cocolalla, Idaho. She continued her love for children and families by volunteering her time at Life Choices in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Janice also had a love of horses. She and her husband, Douglas Lutz, purchased a 50-acre horse ranch to enjoy their retirement, which they later sold and moved to Sagle, Idaho. Jan gave the love of horses to her daughter, Leanne Bandy, who continues to live her mother's dream and raise champion horses at a small ranch in Sagle. Jan loved to visit the new foals born every year at Leanne's place. It brought her much joy.

Janice loved the Lord, her family, community, and helping others whenever possible. She was generous, loving, kind, and forgiving. She always had a smile on her face. She was a wonderful friend, mother, wife, grandmother, and soulmate. She expressed her love until her last breath. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her friends, and by all of her children and their families.

Janice is survived by her husband, Douglas Lutz of Sagle; her children, Sharla Pearson of Puyallup, Wash., Marla Clark of Marshall, Va., Leanne Bandy of Sagle, and Thomas Powell of Beaumont, Calif; her four stepchildren, Douglas Lutz Jr. of Elbow, Canada, Edgar Lutz of Orlando, Fla., David Lutz of Fraser, Colo., and Karen Suss of Frazer; and 24 grandchildren and five great-grandbabies.

Memorial services and a celebration of Jan's life will be held at First Baptist Church, 1230 Michigan St., Sandpoint on April 23, 2016, at 1 p.m.
