If you are one of more than 50,000 people expected to participate in Bloomsday 2016, you may be interested in an upcoming interactive presentation at the Sandpoint branch of the East Bonner County Library District.

Gary Berg, a participant in every Bloomsday since the inaugural 1977 run, is bringing his collection of Bloomsday T-shirts and lively stories from his 39 years of running in one of the largest races in the country. Berg is one of only 96 “perennials” who have finished every Bloomsday, earning an official Bloomsday T-shirt each year.

Bloomsday 2016 celebrates an epic 40th anniversary this year. The library’s Adult Programs specialist and Bloomsday participant, Mike Bauer hopes there will be a high turn-out of local participants this year and looks forward to meeting some of them at the library on Saturday.

“This should be a really fun program,” said Bauer. “Gary hopes other Bloomies will wear their shirts and bring some fun stories and experiences, too.”

The event takes place this Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. in the Rude Girls Room of the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar. Bloomies of all ages and those who have never participated in a Bloomsday are welcome to this free event.
