Timberwolves topple Bulldogs

| April 15, 2016 1:00 AM

COEUR d'ALENE — The two Bris produced, as Bri Baldree ripped two base hits and drove in two runs, while Bri Barlow tallied two hits and scored twice to lead Sandpoint, which lost 14-4 to 5A power Lake City in nonleague softball on Thursday at Lake City High School.

Bailey Cavanagh homered and doubled and drove in three runs as part of a 3-for-4 game with three runs scored for the Timberwolves. Chloe Falciani went 3 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs for Lake City (7-2).

Sandpoint struck first, with three runs in the top of the third inning, to take a 3-0 lead as Baldree was putting up zeros against one of the most potent lineups in the state. The T-Wolves finally got the bats going and finished with some crooked numbers.

“Sandpoint struck first, and they are a much-improved ball club,” said Lake City coach Jesse Lenz. “I was pleased with how my team responded to the adversity of being behind. We finally got the bats going in the third inning.”

Sam Holland, Cody Baldree and Alison Calvert also had hits, and Nycole Moreland relieved Baldree in the fifth and did a solid job.

Sandpoint is at Moscow in a big 4A IEL doubleheader on Tuesday, looking for the season sweep.
