SANDPOINT — Washington State sophomore distance runner Sam Levora is building off a strong cross country season with some big early season track showings as the Cougar track team has been busy recently.

Levora finished second in the 1,500 against UCLA and Arizona, clocking a 3:51, which equates to roughly a 4:07 when converted to 1,600. He currently has the 40th fastest time in the Western U.S. in the 5,000 meters.

He then finished 8th out of 21 runners in the 5,000 at the Stanford invite, clocking a 14:17, or just under a 4:40/mile pace. The former Bulldog continues to emerge as one of the Cougars’ top distance runners, competing in arguably the best track conference in the country in the Pac 12.

Matt Burgstahler, who runs for Saint John’s University, was in action on April 2 at the Hamline University Invitational. He was 13th out of 64 in the 1,500, running a 4:08.81.

Mikhaela Woodward recently finished sixth for Western Washington University in the 3,000 at a meet in St. Martin’s, then followed that up with a 30th place finish in the 1,500 at the much bigger Simon Frazier Invitational in British Columbia.
