Michael Brian Huyck, 70

Michael Brian Huyck, 70, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Seneacquoteen Cemetery.

Michael was born on Feb. 13, 1946, in Richmond, Calif., to Jacob and Garnet Huyck.

He grew up with six siblings on a chicken farm in Mt. Verde, Calif.

Michael worked as a boiler operator in the Bay Area, and he also served in the United States Navy.

Michael married Lynne Nazelrod on July 1, 1977, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

He worked as a carpenter until 1985 when they moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, and started the Huckleberry Retirement Homes.

Michael enjoyed wood working, gem hunting, watching the stars through his telescope, art, drawing, and science. He cherished a special bond with his grandchild, Jordie, who nicknamed him “Papa.”

Michael is survived by his wife, Lynne Huyck of Sandpoint; a nephew, Mike Vadon of Sandpoint; and special friends, Kenny and Jordie Breeden.
