SHS grad makes UI dean’s list

Anthony Fox, Sandpoint High School graduate and a junior at the University of Idaho, made the dean’s list this past fall with a 4.0 grade point average. Fox, a psychology major, plans a career in counseling upon finishing his degree. A former standout soccer player at SHS, Fox enjoys participating in club soccer at UI. He is a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.

Priest River native presents research

WALLA WALLA — On April 12, Caroline Burnett presented her original research as part of The Whitman College Undergraduate Conference.

The 18th annual Whitman Undergraduate Conference brings together students from every academic area of the college to share their research and creative projects with the campus community. The projects are a result of the students’ work in their courses, senior theses, summer internships and study abroad.

Burnett is a 2013 graduate of Priest River Lamanna High School She is currently a junior at Whitman College.

Temple earns academic honors

Spencer Temple, a 2015 graduate of Sandpoint High School, has accepted membership into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He is attending the University of Denver and is a computer science major.

Temple was named to the school’s dean’s list, which requires 3.75 grade point average or above, with a 3.87 GPA for the fall quarter.

He is the son of Brad and Stacy Temple.

EOU announces winter dean’s list

Eastern Oregon University named 570 students to the dean’s list for the 2016 winter term.

Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Emily Graham of Sandpoint was among the university’s students who earned the honor.

Local resident earns bachelor’s degree

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Lorena LaBarbera of Naples, has recently graduated from Pacific University (Ore.) with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Founded in 1849, Pacific University (Ore.) is a diverse and sustainable community dedicated to discovery and excellence in teaching, scholarship and practice.

The university consists of colleges of Arts & Sciences, Optometry, Education, Health Professions and Business, with campuses in Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Eugene and Woodburn.

Alpha Delta Kappa offers scholarship

The Idaho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is offering a scholarship to be awarded to woman who will be a junior or senior in college during the 2016-2017 school year and is a Bonner County resident. A student’s academic major, GPA, extra-curricular activities, and financial need will be considered by the selection committee. The application deadline is May 13.

Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism, and worldwide understanding.
