POST FALLS — Liz Parsley and Khloe Kylonnen beat Cheney 6-2 in the girls doubles championship, and Jake Aguirre and Reilly Wolfe teamed up to beat Post Falls 6-2 in the boys double final, leading the Bulldogs to the team championship on Saturday in Post Falls.

Parsley filled in for Laney Search and never missed a beat with Kylonnen, earning the respect of Bulldogs' head coach Kent Anderson.

“They both played relentless with consistent serves, strong ground strokes and an attacking style. Khloe's down-the-line serve returns were absolutely flawless,” praised Anderson. “Once again, our depth prevailed as we were missing five of our top varsity players.”

The Bulldogs also won three consolation championships in the four-team tourney, led by Tyler Newton and Danika Tomazich in mixed doubles, Jacob Jackson and Decco Plummer in boys doubles, and Logan Temple in boys singles.

Aguirre and Wolfe mixed power and finesse, using a strong serve and volley approach to claim the doubles title.

“On the way to winning the overall championship, their only real hurdle was Declan and Charlie (Crane) in the qualifying pool-play,” described Anderson, who paired Plummer with Jackson in bracket play. “Declan and Charlie shocked everyone with their athleticism as they took five out of nine games from the eventual champs.”

Temple played his strongest match in the consolation championship in front of a big crowd, earning valuable tournament experience as the matches that matter most lie ahead.

“Logan was hitting at a very high level, hammering both his first serve and his penetrating cross-courts, bringing the crowd to their feet several times,” raved Anderson. “This was one of the tournament's most inspiring matches.”

Freshmen Alana Siefert and Allura Livingston made it all the way to the semis of the championship round, mixing consistency with clean winners in another strong showing.
