Dorothy Dorlyne Benda, 91, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Lakeview Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Sheridan, Wyo., to T. Walter and Hattie Sevier. She grew up in Ponderay, Idaho, and attended local schools.

Dor-othy married Arnold Benda on Nov. 13, 1944, in Sand-point. She raised the seven children while Arnold worked in the woods.

She enjoyed huckleberry picking, fishing, gardening, traveling, sewing, cooking, watching John Wayne movies, and dressing up to go out. After long days of taking care of her family she enjoyed watching TV shows in the late evening.

She is survived by seven children, Arnie Benda of Cocolalla, Idaho, Donald (Brenda) Benda of Hillsboro, Ore., Rex (Sandee) Benda of Rathdrum, Idaho, Shirley (David) Evans of Ponderay, Larry (Val) Benda of Kootenai, Idaho, Randy Benda of Clark Fork, Idaho, and Cliff (Terri) Benda of St. Mariesm, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren, with one “on the way.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold Benda; an infant daughter, Hattie Mae; and seven siblings.
