Anita Bell Hull, 92

Anita B. Hull died at her home in Eureka, Calif., on March 29, 2016. She was 92.

Born Anita Bell Scott in Fresno, Calif., and a long time resident of Eureka, she moved here with her husband, Melvin K. Hull, from Riverside in the 1960s, and lived on Humbolt Hill.

They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1979. After 23 years during which they wintered in St. George, they moved back to Eureka, where they celebrated 66 years of married life.

Mrs. Hull was active as a lifetime member in Navy League with Mr. Hull who preceded her in death in 2008. She was active as a life member in Military Officers Association.

She was also active in Redwood Golf and Country Club in Fortuna, League of Women Voters and Calvary Community Church in Field’s Landing.

She enjoyed the outdoors including beachcombing, fishing and camping with her family and was known as an enthusiastic hiker in her Sandpoint hiking club. During the last few years she was active in local senior exercise classes.

She raised her family as a Navy wife, moving from Florida and West Point during World War II, and then Livermore to Castro Valley to New Orleans, La., and back to Castro Valley. Her longest stay was in Eureka.

She was lovingly cared for at home in her last years by her daughters, Sherry Marie Melara and Patricia Lee Hull of Bellevue, Idaho, as well as numerous Hospice nurses and caregivers.

She is also survived by her other three children, Melvin Scott Hull of Foster City, Susan Hull Bostwick of Calistoga and Lynn K. Hull of Eureka; as well as grandchildren, Deborah Good, Kimberly Hull, Matt Hull, Lili Alice Bostwick, DawnRose Bostwick Thistlethwaite, Douglas O’Keefe, Patrick O’Keefe, Sarah Hall, Wesley Hull, Claire Hull, Chloe Whallon, Aurora Hull-Mullins, Shane Hull-Mullins, and Briana Hull-Mullins; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, John O. Hull, and many other in-laws.

Celebration and commemoration of her long and fruitful life will be private.
