Grace Ethel Fey, 73

Grace Ethel Fey, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Clark Fork, Idaho.

Grace was born on Aug. 15, 1942, in Wilmar, Calif., the only child of Champion C. Rogers and Joellyn N. Newton. Grace grew up in South San Gabriel and Alhambra. After graduating from San Gabriel High School, She worked as a stenographer for Southern Pacific in Los Angeles.

In February 1958, Grace met her future husband and the love of her life, Joseph R. Fey. They were married Sept. 3, 1960, at St. Anthony’s Church in South San Gabriel and settled in New Jersey shortly afterward. She was employed as a secretary in Hawthorne, N.J.

In 1963, they returned to California and bought their first home in Lancaster. A stay-at-home mom, Grace was active in the PTA and Mother’s Guild at their church. After the death of their youngest child, they relocated to Lusk, Wyo., where they operated a bar and testaurant. While living in Bigfork, Mont., in the late 1970s, Grace was active in the PTA at Swan River School. After moving to Clark Fork in 1980, she assisted her husband in the operation of Mountain View Market and later Mountain View Video.

After her husband retired, they concentrated on gardening on their property north of Clark Fork. She and Joe celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2010. Following her husband’s death in November 2010, she continued to pursue her passions for gardening and genealogy research.

Grace is survived by three daughters, Angela (David) Talmadge of Sussex, N.J., Valerie (Larry) Knapp of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Shari (Greg) Hoskins of Clark Fork; eight grandchildren, James (Claudia) Hanak Jr., Jessica (Barry) Zeek, Luke Talmadge, Daniel Knapp, Benjamin Knapp, Cody Wilder, Leanna Wilder, and Joe Hoskins; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Hanak, Jada and Isabella Zeek.

A private family service will be held.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe; a daughter, Jennifer Marie Fey; her parents and stepfather; and two brothers, Robert K. Rachford and William C. Rogers.
