FSPW celebrates spring, Winter Tracks volunteers

| April 23, 2016 1:00 AM

Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness are celebrating spring on April 28 with a fresh batch of the by-now venerable Goat Hop Ale from MickDuff’s Brewing.

The Friends will also be honoring their Winter Tracks volunteers at the MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., beginning at 6 pm. Winter Tracks is the FSPW winter education program designed to get kids from Bonner County and Sanders and Lincoln County, Mont., into the great outdoors during the colder months

“This year’s Winter Tracks Program turned out to be a huge success — one that FSPW can build upon in the future,” FSPW staffer Nathan Mynatt said. “We engaged 184 students from six different schools. Much of that success can be attributed to efforts of the volunteers and school teachers that made this program happen.”

Winter Tracks volunteers will be eligible for a drawing for tickets to the KRFY fundraiser on May 6 at the Panida featuring The Li’l Smokies, a hot bluegrass group out of Missoula.

This is the third batch of Goat Hop Ale that Mick Duff’s has made for the Friends. Portions of the proceeds from sales of the ale will be donated to FSPW.
