I think it honorable that those serving the public in positions of high authority accept responsibility for their actions. Undersheriff David Hale’s tendered resignation, which has been accepted by Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, should serve notice to the public and secondly to the organization, that constitutional Sheriff Wheeler‘s office is appropriately self-regulating.

In the law enforcment organization industry there is a common but prudent saying that should be recognized and heeded by all: “If you can’t discipline yourself, someone else will.” Accepting a resignation of the undersheriff is no insignificant action and thus deserving of praise in a moment abound with deep regret.
