RATHDRUM — A Priest River man was arrested Saturday night on burglary and theft charges after being tracked down by a K-9 team, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Dustin Jacob King, 21, is charged with four counts of burglary, possession of stolen property and petit theft.

Deputies were summoned to East Chilco and North Ramsey road area after receiving a report of a prowler at about 10:45 p.m.

A homeowner reported hearing someone in their garage making noises, a news release said. The homeowner added that it appeared several of their vehicles had been entered.

Deputies discovered fresh footprints in the mud and began a K-9 track for the suspect. After a lengthy track, deputies located King walking down Ramsey near West Garwood Road.

King’s footwear matched the footprints found outside the burglarized garage, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies also discovered items reported stolen from the victim’s cars. A stolen driver’s license from an auto theft in Post Falls was also found in King’s possession.

Sheriff’s officials said King was a suspect in multiple burglaries recently.

King was convicted of burglary and possession of stolen property in Kootenai County in 2013, according to the Idaho Supreme Court Data Repository.
