Bullpup girls win pair of district track meets

SANDPOINT — The SMS track team competed in two meets recently, the first at four-team meet with Lakes Middle School of Coeur d’Alene hosting.

The Bullpup girls team took first with a whopping 88 points, way ahead of second place Post Falls with 51. Jordie Breeden was first in 100 with a time of 13.09, while Taitiam Bowen took third in the 100 and second in the 200. Olivia Lynch was fourth in the 400 and Hattie Larson finished third in the 1,600 with a time of 6:14.

The 4x100 relay team, made up of Jordie Breeden, Taitiam Bowen, Kaylee Solis and Maddi Morgan, finished first with a time of 56:00. The 4x200 team of Sydnie Kneeper, Camille Neuder, Breann Klopman-Baerselman and Serenity Landis took second.

The Bullpup girls clean house in the field events. The top two high jumpers at the meet where Olivia Lynch in first with a height of 4’6” and Megan Parnell in second. SMS also took four of the five scoring spots in the long jump with Maddie Morgan winning at 13’10”, Jordie Breeden 2nd, Kailyn Shaffer 4th and MaKayla Chapman 5th. Chapman was also 1st in the Shot with a distance of 27’2” and Kaitlyn Stewart took 3rd. We took 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the discuss with Anneli Wedemeyer, Kaitlyn Stewart and Hattie Larson, respectively.

The Bullpup boys took 3rd with a team score of 46. Walker Herman took 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in high jump, Jaxson Petit took 4th in the 400 and 110 hurdles, Parker Reed 4th in the 800 and Jacob Ryan 2nd in the hurdles.

Walker Hermann, Garret Chandler, Jaxon Petit and Jacob Suhr teamed up to finish 2nd in the 4x100 relay, while Gabriel Christman, Zane Rasor, Parker Reed and Tyler Almeida took 4th in the 4x200.

Garrett Chandler took 2nd in the high jump and 4th in the long jump, and Jacob Suhr took 4th in the shot to lead the field events.

The second meet was at home and we competed against Woodland and Lakeland. The girls dominated their competition again with a score of 60 the next closest was Woodland with 36.

Hattie Larson and Annaby Kanning started off the girls right in 1,600 with a 2nd and 4th finish. Baylee Oulman took 4th in the 100 Hurdles. Jordie Breeden defended her 100 win from Tuesday with a time of 13:29. Oliva Lynch was 4th in the 400, Kanning was 2nd in the 800 followed by Mesa Keating 3rd.

The very fast 4x100 team of Jordie Breeden, Taitiam Bowen, Kaylee Solis and Maddi Morgan tallied another 1st place finish with a time of 55.94. The 4x200 team of Sydnie Kneeper, Camilli Neuder, Breann Klopman-Baerselman and Serenity Landis took 1st with a time of 2:12.08.

The girls took first in all the field events. Breeden jumped 13’ 9.5” in long jump teammates Maddi Morgan and Kailyn Shaffer took 2nd and 4th. Olivia Lynch jumped 4’6” in the high jump and teammate Megan Parnell took 3rd. Makayla Chapman threw the shot 27’5” and Anneli Wedemeyer took 2nd. Anneli Wedemeyer threw the disc 61’9.5”, Kaitlyn Stewart took 2nd and Hattie Larson took 3rd.

The boys took second with a score of 44, Lakeland won the meet with 52 and Woodland had 30. Jacob Ryan took 2nd in the 110 hurdles and Jaxon Petit took 3rd. Walker Herman took 1st in the 200 with a time of 25.97 followed by teammates Jacob Suhr 2nd and Branden Kappen 4th.

The boys 4x100 relay team of Jacob Ryan, Garret Chandler, Jaxon Petit and Walker Hermann shaved four seconds off their time from Tuesday to win with a time of 51.93.

Garrett Chandler jumped 16’1” in the long jump followed by teammate Walker Hermann 2nd. Garret Chandler also jumped a strong height of 5’10” in the high jump and Jacob Ryan took 3rd. Jacob Suhr launched the shot 35’ 3.5”. Spencer Rucker threw the discuss 86’1”

“I am very proud of the way we have been competing,” said head coach Jake Peterson. “As a group they are developing physical and mental toughness.”
