Event to benefit Watershed Crest Trail

| April 29, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Come enjoy cold craft beers from Grand Teton Brewing while supporting the region’s newest mountain bike trail, the Watershed Crest Trail, during Ales for Trails, on Tuesday, May 10, at the Idaho Pour Authority.

The Pend Oreille Pedalers bike club is hosting the evening event to raise funds for the trail, which is currently under construction. The 25-mile-long trail will extend from Schweitzer Mountain Resort to Baldy Mountain and down the ridge to Sandpoint.

The Pedalers bike club is building the trail under an agreement with the city of Sandpoint, and the work is expected to take another three to four years. Trail work began last summer in the Selkirk Recreation District, on Schweitzer Mountain.

“This epic mountain biking and hiking trail will feature spectacular views and some of the best single track in the Northwest,” said Mike Murray, president of the bike club. “It will become a destination for mountain bikers around the region and no doubt beyond.”

The May 10th event is from 4 to 7 p.m., and will feature live music, complimentary appetizers, featured craft beer from Grand Teton Brewing, and raffle prizes.
