Betty Jean Dunn Olson

| August 3, 2016 1:00 AM

Betty Jean Dunn Olson was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Sandpoint, Idaho to Fredrick and Grace Dunn. She joined her husband and loved ones on Aug. 2, 2016.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Lori Morton officiating. Interment will take place next to Bobby in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

She was raised with her siblings Fredrick James, Robert, John Thomas and Clara Bell in Kootenai during the Great Depression. After graduating from Sandpoint High School she worked at Spokane Army Airbase until the end of World War II.

She then worked for Jimmy Brown of the Pack River Lumber Company (or it antecedents) for over 50 years. Everybody loved Betty; she passed out the paychecks!

She married Robert “Bobby” Olson in June 1948, built a home and raised up four kids. Mom was an avid skier and bicyclist with her dear friends. Her friendship with Florence Carter sustained her many years after Bobby’s passing in 1972.

Betty has been a member of First Lutheran Church since her marriage. She was a Beta Sigma Phi. She had a season pass at her beloved Schweitzer Basin Ski Area from 1964 through 2005.

She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, John (Leila) and James (Jane); and her daughters, Sonja (Dr. Ken Hallock) and Lisa. She has five grandchildren, Karina and Robert by John and Leila, Iris and Sonia by James and Jane, and Saige by Sonja and Ken.

We will remember Mom fondly as we all journey toward the light. “Do not mourn me I have led a blessed life!”

Family and friends are invited to sign Betty’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
