Fear, lies and embellishments characterize a titanic $55,118,997.00 tax-levy. In a July 2016 magazine article referring to school dispositions, Lake Pend Oreille School District promotes fear as, “a lot of ticking time bombs … catastrophic occurrence … unsatisfactory” (subjective ratings). Superintendent Shawn Woodward commented on the July 2016 article stating, “there are no lies.”
Lie — “LPOSD’s CFO has done a great job of building the reserve ...” June 2015 minutes identify a plant reserve fund of zero dollars, and, a $371K shortfall in the dedicated operating reserve fund.
Lie — “Those in charge have done a superb job managing the finances.” The current CFO managed the failed 2008 facility levy of Kootenai Elementary, over budget by $1,000,000 and still unfinished.
Lie — “The trustees … voted to accept all the recommendations.” The January 2016, $30,000 Teater Consulting recommendation included the alternative high school construction; LPOSD denied it.
Vote “one school at a time” by checking the ballot’s bottom box, “against,” on Aug. 30.
