SANDPOINT — It was another strong meet for the Sandpoint Sharks swim team, which competed last weekend in the Inland Empire Swimming Long Course Championships in Pasco, Wash.

The Sharks sent 10 swimmers to the meet, with a host of swimmers advancing to the finals, no easy task with top swimmers from around the region on hand and unusually hot temperatures.

Payton Bokowy finished first in the 50 meter freestyle in her only event, essentially staking a claim to being not just the fastest prep swimmer in Idaho, but around the region. Younger sister Kate Bokowy finished second in the 50 free and 12th in the 200 backstroke, and Ryleigh Bamer finished third in the 100 free and fourth in both the 50 back and 50 fly.

“Kate Bokowy and Ryleigh Bamer had some big races for the girls, and Aidan Nielsen and Garrett Bamer swam well with final swims and lots of PR swims,” said longtime coach Mike Brosnahan, who will coach many of the same kids during the high school season this fall. “This is going to be a great year for Bulldog swimming, too.”

Other Sharks finishes included Autumn Morgan (third in 50 breast, fifth in 100 back), Caleb Norling (fifth in 200 IM and 50 free), Seth Bamer (fifth in 200 fly and ninth in 200 back), Aiden Nielsen (sixth in 50 free and 100 fly), Garrett Bamer (11th in 50 free and 100 back), Bri Brosnahan (18th in 200 breast) and Hayden Norling (18th in 400 free).
