SANDPOINT — After undergoing his final surgery last week, a teen injured in a hit-and-run collision on North Boyer Avenue in April made his way home to Sandpoint Tuesday.

Jordan Williams, 19, was discovered lying in the roadway at an intersection of Mountain View Drive on April 11. Williams suffered a crushed skull, brain contusions and damage to his left eye.

Family friend Connie Betcher said he is recovering from his Aug. 9 surgery in Seattle, which consisted of placing a titanium plate over the area of his forehead where his skull was crushed.

Betcher said he is a top athlete in skateboarding and skiing on Schweitzer Mountain.

"He is kind of a local hero for some of the kids who are extreme athletes, so they are all very excited to see him," Betcher said. "We would love for the community to come out and give their support.”

A homecoming gathering for Williams is scheduled for 4 p.m. today at 7B Boardshop, located at 121 First Ave. in Sandpoint. Betcher said they also hope to have another get-together with Williams at Schweitzer Mountain Resort on Thursday. That information will be announced as details are finalized.

"He's had a huge outpouring of support," Betcher said, adding that more than $26,000 has been raised through a Go Fund Me page.

Williams will only be in town for a few days before he goes to Utah for more medical treatment.

The incident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police and anyone with information is encouraged to call Trooper Jonathan Cushman at 208-290-8730.
