For weeks now I’ve been hearing the whinnying about how much the proposed LPOSD levy is going to cost homeowners. I tired of hearing from all these people that have focused on just the money. I think it is high time we focused on our kids.

How can we expect to have our children become tomorrow’s leaders if we don’t give them the tools they need to succeed? We’ve made big strides in providing good teachers. Now it is time to give them an equally good environment in which to learn.

We constantly hear about local control of our future being our goal. Well, folks, this levy is the ultimate in local control. Approving this levy would tell everyone that we want our children to be have the best we can offer. We cannot expect the state or the federal government to help if we don’t demonstrate we are willing to participate in the process.

We’ve kicked the can down the road for long enough. Everyone needs to stop thinking about money and start to think about our children.

Everyone get out and vote Aug. 30. I for one refuse to place a dollar value on our children.
