Turnovers costly as Lumberjacks down Bulldogs

| December 9, 2016 12:00 AM

St. MARIES — Patrick Rockwell scored 15 points and Spencer Thompson added 15 points and six rebounds, but turnovers proved too much to overcome, as the Bulldogs lost 58-53 on the road to St. Maries in nonleague boys basketball on Thursday night.

Taran McLaughlin drained three shots from beyond the arc for his nine points, Robbie Johnson tallied eight points and six rebounds and Alex Stockton scored six, but the Bulldogs (0-3) committed 22 turnovers, and against a senior-laden St. Maries squad, it was simply too many.

“It’s all about turnovers,” lamented Bulldogs assistant coach Mike Roos, noting the Bulldogs showed some fight. “We came back from being down 12 points and cut it to one, but kept turning it over.”

Sandpoint hosts another 3A foe in Priest River on Saturday, with tipoff at 6 p.m.
