Wampus Cats rout Tigers

CLARK FORK — The Sophomore trio of Brooke Stevens, Tessa Sutton and Lily Simko all had big games, leading the Wampus Cats to a convincing 57-15 win over the Tigers on Tuesday night in North Star League girls basketball action at Clark Fork High School.

Stevens finished with nine points, three steals, two blocks and two assists for the Wampus Cats (1-4, 1-0 NSL), who blew the game open with an 18-2 second quarter. Sutton scored a game-high 13 points, and Simko added nine points and nine boards to help the Cats pick up their first win.

“We shot the ball much better tonight,” said Wampus Cats head coach Mark Stevens. “That’s been a struggle for us this year.”

Ali Sutton added three points, four rebounds and two assists, and fellow sophomore Ellie Lambert five points and three steals, as the Cats played everyone extended minutes.

Freshman Taylor Davis scored eight points to lead the Tigers in defeat.

Clark Fork travels to Lakeside tonight for a big league showdown, a tough task playing on back-to-back nights.
