Gymnastics classes offered

SANDPOINT — Two types of gymnastics, Rhythmics and Acrosport, will be offered to any and all area 6-18 year-olds from Jan. 11 through Feb. 15.

Rhythmics is a beautiful activity that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance, and manipulation of five apparatus; ball, clubs, hoops, ribbon and rope into skills and routines to music.

Acrosport uses partners and groups working together to perform acrobatic skills of tumbling, lifts, balances, tosses and catches of partners in combination with dance. Gymnasts of all sizes are needed. Bases are bigger and strong. Tops are petite.

The classes will be taught in a recreational format, with participants asked to wear athletic clothing that is not too baggy. Classes take place at Community Hall (204 N. 1st Ave.) on Wednesdays, starting Jan. 11. Beginners meet from 3:30–4:30 p.m. and students deemed intermediate by the instructor meet from 4:30–5:30 p.m.

The fees are $40/session ($5 in-city discount). There is a minimum of five and maximum of 12 participants needed to run each session.
