KOOTENAI — Hope and Kootenai elementary schools were awarded a grant that will bring breakfast smoothies and more physical activity to the students.

The Idaho State Dairy Council awarded the grants to the schools, with Hope getting $3,430 and Kootenai getting $1,860. Physical education teachers Teresa Kemink, Kootenai, and Steve Miller, Hope, wrote the grants. Half of the grant money goes toward healthy eating and the other half goes toward physical activity, Kemink said.
