SANDPOINT — It says much about the passion he has for the game that Sandpoint senior Carlos Collado already misses football, just a few months removed from the state championship game.

He’ll have to wait until the fall to pad back up and play the game he loves, and he’ll do so in the black and gold of the Idaho Vandals, signing a full-ride scholarship to play football next season at the University of Idaho.

The 6-foot-5, 240 pound All-State lineman has been a fixture on both sides of the ball for the past three years at Sandpoint, and he’s thrilled to continue playing his first love once he finishes basketball and track this spring.

“The hole in my heart is filled. I’m excited to play football again,” said Collado on Wednesday, the national signing day for high school football recruits. “I missed it, it’s been a while.”
