Norris leads SHS in tough loss
POST FALLS — Blake McLean sank two of his three 3-pointers in the first quarter, sparking Post Falls to an early lead and the Trojans went on to beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 74-47 in nonleague boys basketball play Thursday night at The Arena.
“Sandpoint came out in a zone, and we shot the ball really well,” said Post Falls coach Mike McLean, noting the Trojans hit three 3s in building a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. “I thought we did a good job moving the ball, not getting stagnant. And our defensive pressure forced them into turnovers.”
Max McCullough totaled 13 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals for Post Falls (14-5). Jake Pfennigs had 10 points and eight rebounds, and McLean also praised the play of sophomores David Bourgard (10 points) and Tanner McCliment-Call off the bench.
Davan Norris scored a game-high 19 points for Sandpoint (5-11), which did not make a 3-pointer.
“Norris can really get rolling, so we didn’t wander off him too far,” McLean said.
Sandpoint plays host to Moscow on Saturday.
Post Falls travels to Coeur d’Alene on Saturday in a key 5A Inland Empire League game.
