Slow start dooms Bulldogs in loss to T-wolves
SANDPOINT — It took a half for Sandpoint to get things going, but by then it was too late, as Lake City jumped out early and held on for a 57-43 win over Sandpoint in nonleague boys basketball Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Kenneth Louis-McGee scored a team-high 17 points to go with three steals, Duncan Butler added nine points and nine boards and Kodie Kolden four points, six rebounds and three steals, helping the Timberwolves (6-13) jump out to a commanding 25-9 halftime lead. Lake City got to the line often, finishing 20-32 from the stripe.
Davan Norris scored a game-high 20 points, including four 3-pointers on 14 attempts, and post Carlos Collado, who recently signed to play football next season at Idaho, scored 12 to go with six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (5-13) in the loss.
Matthew Curtiss finished with seven points and three blocks, and brought a ton of energy to the floor, making several flash plays and helping cut the deficit to single digits briefly in the second half. Paul Sundquist finished with five assists in defeat.
Sandpoint is at No. 4 rannked 5A power Coeur d’Alene on Saturday.
