Community rallies to improve Little Pine baseball field

| February 13, 2016 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Talk to anyone who grew up playing baseball in Sandpoint and they likely have a story to share about their experience of games played at the Little Pine field. From the towering tamarack trees to the close proximity of fans to the field, it has been a memorable setting for all who have played there.

The park is one of the oldest in the city and the baseball diamond has seen little improvement in recent years, until the fall of 2014. New infield mix was brought in to create a softer playing surface to slide on and minimize the bad ball bounces that make young players cringe when a hot grounder is coming their way.
