SANDPOINT – Never give a groom too much time to think. At least, that’s the case with the latest Unknown Local theatrical production, which opened this weekend at the Heartwood Center.

In the play “Cold Feet” – written by Chris Herron and directed by Madeline Elliott – a best man gone AWOL at the last minute leaves the groom in the lurch, with no rings, no less. As he stews, the groom is treated to non-stop advice from the rest of the wedding party.

“The worst-case scenario for a wedding,” Herron said.

“Not the worst case,” Elliott disagreed. “Several other things could have gone wrong.”

If the writer and director sometimes sound as though they have fallen into their own script, consider the fact that select sections of the couple’s conversations actually have worked their way onto the written page. They first worked together as actors in another Herron play called “Separate Checks.” This new production, they said, gives them more control over the finished work.
