Demand growing for garden plots

SANDPOINT — Lettuce, squash, berries, and flowers will be popping up in the Sandpoint Community Garden this spring, grown by area gardeners without the use of chemicals.

The Sandpoint Community Garden is taking plot reservations for its eighth season of growing chemical-free plants. The plots can be rented by the community’s gardeners without their own spot for $20 for a four-by-eight foot plot, or $25 for a seven-by-seven foot plot. The rental fee covers the growing season.

"We can't call it true organic, but it's really organic gardening," said Pat Wentworth, community garden coordinator.
