Keough deserves our thanks, not our censure

| February 18, 2016 6:00 AM

Recently, a letter writer, Gary Domke of Priest River, questioned Sen. Shawn Keough’s support of increased school funding in two successive legislative sessions. He noted that each time she cited the cuts made to education budgets during the economic downturn. How many times does she plan to restore those cuts? he asked.

Instead of criticism, Sen. Keough deserves high praise for being a stalwart supporter of education in Idaho, and recognizing that adequate funding is a long-term commitment, not a one- or two-year push. Getting back to even only assures Idaho of remaining near the bottom of all states in levels of school funding.
