Council OKs temporary road striping
SANDPOINT — With an emphasis on the fact that it’s temporary, the Sandpoint City Council approved a plan Wednesday to stripe the downtown intersection of First Avenue, and Church and Bridge streets.
Part of the Downtown Streets Plan and Design Guide published in December 2012, Idaho Transportation Department is gearing up to reconfigure Fifth Avenue to two-way traffic this fall. The decision about the unique First/Church/Bridge intersection was overdue, said Public Works Director Kody Van Dyk.
The plan includes having both First Avenue and Church Street revert to two-way traffic.
Van Dyk said the difference in the three options council had to consider was truck traffic movement and the number of parking spaces.
