SANDPOINT — A former Bonner County woman is being charged in connection with the death of her infant son, who was allegedly exposed to methamphetamine before and after he was born.

Samantha Loraine Randel is charged with injury to a child at the felony level. A criminal complaint alleges Randel exposed her son to the central nervous system stimulant from May 2014 to April 2015,

The boy was born on Jan. 16, 2015, and was found unresponsive in his parents’ bed on April 5, 2015. The 3-month-old was taken to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, where he was pronounced dead, court records indicate.
