SANDPOINT — It’s bright red with a white ladder. It has a whale of a wail, and it’s brand new. Selkirk Fire, Rescue and EMS is inviting the public to come see its new fire truck next week.

The truck will be showcased to the public on Thursday, Feb. 25 starting at 8 a.m. at the Sandpoint station, 1123 Lake St. Firefighters will be on hand to talk about this Rosenbauer Arial 78 Viper and to serve coffee and sweet treats.

“With this up-to-date, state-of-the-art truck we have the ability to do multiple rescues,” Fire Chief Stocking said. “Today’s firefighters are expected to do a lot of things. We don’t just fight fires; there are also extrication and EMS calls. This truck gives us the tools we’ll need for the next 20 to 30 years.”
