Ybarra seeks rural ed funds

BOISE — Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra presented ideas for a program to create Rural Education Centers to coordinate the sharing of resources between rural schools and school districts in Idaho.

“We have all these services in Idaho, yet they’re not getting down to the kids,” Ybarra said.

Ybarra brought in Rich McBride, a superintendent from Washington state, to speak about the work he and other educators have done in his state and around the country.

McBride said he has worked with educators from rural areas around the country to develop his policies and said he started his career in a 100-student school district.
