Learn the art of 'elevator pitches'
DeCaro to speak at chamber’s 7B Women meeting Tuesday
SANDPOINT — Can you communicate your business message in 30 seconds?
Don’t worry if you don’t know how or even if you have never heard the phrase “elevator pitch,” Dominic DeCaro, vice president of small business lending at Washington Trust Bank, will teach you how at Tuesday’s 7B Women’s monthly meeting.
The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce invites area residents and businesses to the luncheon meeting, which will be held 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 in the Columbia Bank Community Room, 414 Church St.
DeCaro is an emerging young leader who won the 2012 Inland Business Catalyst Magazine 20 under 40 Award. His community involvement includes Gonzaga University Spokane Alumni Chapter Board, Leadership Spokane 2012 graduate, Gonzaga Prep High School varsity defense football coach, and board president of Chase Youth Foundation.
At Tuesday’s meeting, DeCaro will mentor the 7B Women and the guests in crafting a knockout elevator pitch and how to actually deliver it. Great connections are made face-to-face and are often unplanned. Whether you are at a job interview, networking at a luncheon, or run into a big-shot investor in the elevator, persuading others to deliver a winning message is no easy task. You want to grab the attention quickly. Trying to pack your life accomplishments into a 30-second statement may be as daunting as trying to put an elephant into a refrigerator.
This is why you should develop an elevator pitch which details your professional story before you need it. A well-crafted elevator pitch prepares you for these opportunities and equips you to make a powerful first impression to get the most out of a chance meeting. An elevator pitch, when properly executed, is a powerful tool highlighting the unique aspects of your business.
Reservations are required for this event and can be made calling the chamber at 208-263-2161 or registering online at www.sandpointchamber.org. The luncheon includes catering by Tango Café and the price is $15 for chamber members and $20 for non-chamber members.
