Guns needed to protect against the bad guys

Regarding the Deutchmans’ letter:

People like you are trying to destroy our way of life. Take a good look at some countries who took away guns from their citizens. Hitler took them to make Germany safer, then proceeded onward to World War II. I am a 26-year veteran who served in Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.
