NRA is too extreme
I have been a gun owner and sportsman for almost 60 years. I am also a veteran and former National Rifle Association member and have watched as the NRA has polarized the national firearms conversation over the last 40 years. They have managed to do this in spite of having a membership that numbers less than 2 percent of the American population by stonewalling anything they see as threatening to their extreme interpretation of the Second Amendment. The Supreme Court disagreed with that interpretation when it stated in its ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) by saying that “the right [to own guns] secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited.”
