Counterfeit bills making rounds in area

SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Sheriff's Office is warning merchants to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills that are circulating in the area.

Local businesses have reported receiving bogus $50 and $100 bills and sheriff's investigators are working with the U.S. Secret Service to find the source of the fake notes. Officials urge business owners and members of the public to be attentive when accepting larger denominations.
