Residents hope to hit jackpot

SANDPOINT — The largest lottery jackpot ever can belong to someone lucky Saturday night with the Powerball drawing anticipated to be more than $700 million.  

Idaho lottery officials said it is the largest jackpot ever offered in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world. Tickets will be sold until 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9. Officials suggest purchasing tickets early as lengthy lines may occur at the last minute.

“One ticket can change everything. But we want to remind everyone participating that it does only take one ticket to win,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho lottery director.“We have done research and we know without a shadow of a doubt that every winner has purchased at least one ticket for that game.”
