Area food bank flush with produce

SANDPOINT — Lettuce, onions, and asparagus, oh my!
A semi truck rolled over off of Highway 95 about eight miles south of the Canadian border Wednesday around 7:30 p.m., leaving area food banks, soup kitchens and residents with refrigerators filled with fresh produce.
Idaho State Police responded to the accident. Calls were made to learn of the driver's well-being but were not immediately returned.
While food fills the shelves at the Bonner Community Food Bank, normally this time of year, they are filled with box dinners, cans of soup, pasta and milk. Fresh produce is normally rare, John Larrabee, warehouse foreman, said. The food bank received 3,080 pounds of produce from the accident.
