Policy trumps compassion

Mr. Paul Engle of Sagle on Dec. 31, 2015, responded to my column about why fear of Syrian refugees should not be the policy of the U.S. and certainly not any business of state or local officials.

In my column, I appealed to reason and risk assessment, noting that the hard data shows the risk of a terrorist attack due to a Syrian or any other refugee is less than the risk of being hit by lightning.
