Alleged counterfeiter arrested in Clark Fork
SANDPOINT — A Clark Fork man was arrested Wednesday in connection with counterfeited U.S. currency that has been circulating in the community.
Keith Daniel Snyder made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Thursday via video link with the jail. Judge Debra Heise set his bail at $100,000 and appointed a public defender to represent him.
Snyder, 50, is charged with forgery, a felony that's punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
It remains unclear how many of the bunk bills were generated or how many remain in circulation, according to Bonner County Undersheriff David Hale. Hale estimated that the amount of fake currency is likely in the realm of thousands of dollars.
