Hopefully our hearts are not two sizes too small

I support Sandpoint’s non-discrimination resolution. I lived in Egypt from August 1973 through 1974. While there I interacted with Egyptians, people from other Arab countries, and Europeans and Asians — the Middle East is a crossroads of civilizations.
The 1973 Arab-Israeli war broke out in October. Israeli warplanes were flying over Egypt. My Egyptian neighbors advised me to store a bucket of sand for first aid use if the planes dropped napalm. Egyptian army trucks drove by my door. At no time was I targeted or mistreated by my Muslim neighbors, even though the United States was supplying arms to Israel.
