Mae Elizabeth Carlson, 94

Mae Elizabeth Carlson, 94, former Sandpoint, Idaho, resident passed away on June 19, 1921, in Casa Grande, Ariz after a long and exciting life.

Funeral services for Mae will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Coffelt Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

She was born July 27, 1921, the daughter of Elmer and Clara Mansfield in Sampsel, Mo., and moved with her family to Sandpoint in grade school. She and her friends organized and started the first cheerleader squad at Sandpoint High School. She had grown up in Sandpoint with most of our family. She married our father, Robert E. Carlson, in 1938.

She had the great privilege to live many places around the world and experience a lot that many of us will never have a chance. She will be missed by everyone’s life she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hazel Marre; her husband, Robert E. Carlson; and two of her daughters, Carmen Ashburn and Cristy Crane. She is survived by her sister, Arlene Thompson; her daughter, Betty Jane Helmandoller; her son, Robert E. Carlson II; seven granddaughters and five grandsons; nine great-granddaughters and seven great-grandsons plus a great-great-grrandson; and many nieces and nephews that to whom she was also their godmother.
