Sandpoint Tennis Academy offers top notch instruction

| July 1, 2016 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Bulldogs have boasted the top tennis team in North Idaho for the past few years, and one of the reasons is the annual Sandpoint Summer Tennis Academy, put on by Bulldog head coach and former University of Montana player Kent Anderson for all aspiring varsity tennis players.

The camp, open to any and all high school age players, will be held from July 11-15, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day at Travers Park. The class fee is $75, with a $5 city discount, and participants must register as soon as possible at Sandpoint Parks and Rec (1123 Lake St.) to ensure their spot in the camp.

Participants will get the opportunity to work-out with some of the best college coaches and pros in the state. Confirmed returning pros for the camp include John Gant, the head pro at North Park Tennis in Spokane, Cici Rickert, Anderson’s daughter and a former Big 10 tennis champ at the University of Minnesota, and a host of other daily guest pros. These pros will be dedicated to the personal development and improvement of each player.

T-shirts and prizes will be available for all players. The camp is open to existing/incoming high school players or by special permission of instructors. Participants must bring daily sack lunches.
