It is with great frustration and with many emotions that I am writing to you about Mr. Steve Klatt’s derogetory/negative remarks this week about the Garfield Bay Fourth of July celebration. First, the Fourth of July is a celebration to honor our country, which is close to 240 years old. To focus on the people who give their time to sponser this wonderful event each year is completely inappropiate and wrong.

The problem isn’t the parking at the event but the abuse of acholol and the F350 pick-ups that race around on the roads at 40-plus miles an hour, endangering the lives of us who walk to the park with our children and grandchildren to enjoy the celebration honoring America.

The need is to stop the speeding and drunken driving that takes place and allow us the pleasure of a wonderful fireworks display. After the show, people need to go home in a orderly and curtious manner, respecting all who are attending this event.

Those of us who live here in Garfield Bay appreciate the efforts of those who sponsor this event and we need to stop all of the negative chatter and act like responsible adults and enjoy the fireworks.
